Durga Larkin, M.D., FAAO, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and skilled cataract surgeon with an extensive background from the nation’s most prestigious medical institutions. She earned her undergraduate degree in Zoology from the University of Pennsylvania and her medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine. Dr. Larkin completed a medical internship at Mt. Auburn Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Cambridge, followed by her ophthalmology residency training at Tufts University in Boston. She began her private practice career in 1991 and has been a dedicated and trusted specialist with South County Eye Physicians & Surgeons since 2000.

Throughout her distinguished career, Dr. Larkin has blended clinical expertise with prominent leadership roles in ophthalmology. Recognized consistently as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor since 2009, she specializes in advanced cataract surgery and the latest developments in astigmatism correction. Her impressive leadership background includes serving as President and Vice President of the Rhode Island Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Brown University's Warren Alpert Medical School, and chief of the eye department at Harvard Community Health Plan. Dr. Larkin currently holds active medical staff privileges at South County Hospital, alongside consulting privileges at Rhode Island Hospital and Miriam Hospital.

Beyond her surgical practice, Dr. Larkin is a passionate advocate for healthy, proactive living. She is an active speaker and the author of the 2026 book, Timeless Vision: Empowered Aging Redefined. A Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology since 1989, her dedication to patient well-being extends far beyond the operating room to encompass holistic, empowered aging. Outside of medicine, Dr. Larkin resides in the East Bay with her two daughters and truly loves being a doctor serving the South County community.
