Gaurav Gupta, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in retinal and vitreous diseases and surgery. A native of Andover, Massachusetts, he graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute before earning his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester. Dr. Gupta completed his internship at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, followed by his ophthalmology residency at Rhode Island Hospital/Brown Medical School, and his fellowship training in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at Northwestern University in Chicago, one of the nation's premier retinal subspecialty programs. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at Brown University's Warren Alpert Medical School.

Dr. Gupta brings comprehensive expertise in the medical and surgical management of the full spectrum of retinal conditions, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusions, macular holes, complex retinal detachment, trauma, chorioretinal tumors, and uveitis. Before joining Rhode Island Eye Institute in 2009, he served as a vitreoretinal surgeon at The Marshfield Clinic, the dominant healthcare provider in central Wisconsin, where he delivered modern and innovative treatment options to patients across the region. With over 15 years at Rhode Island Eye Institute, Dr. Gupta is one of Southern New England's most experienced and trusted retinal specialists.
